Geoff Alpert Takes Inspiration From Raul De Souza In New Smooth Jazz Album

Geoff Alpert’s new Smooth Jazz Fusion album “Open Your Heart” is a terrific collection of ten tunes that takes musical ideas and influences from not only the jazz universe but also funk, rhythm and blues, pop and Latin music. Alpert took a lot of inspiration from some of his favorite artists, including the great Raul De Souza.

Both Alpert and De Souza are known for being impressive trombonists and they both strive to make the trombone a prominent part of their music. Safe to say that the trombone adds a great funky element to the smooth jazz music they both create.

Alpert has a constant focus on wanting to challenge himself in multiple ways, including his music. That can all be heard in his album which you can find on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.

Check Out The Newest Jazz Fusion Album From Geoff Alpert

The newest album from Geoff Alpert “Open Your Heart” is a wonderful collection of ten tunes that takes musical ideas and influences from not only the jazz universe but also funk, rhythm and blues, pop and Latin music.  The commonality between the tracks is Alpert’s superb and prominently featured trombone playing.

After over forty years of teaching Ken-Ka-Kung-Fu, Alpert attributes much of his musical inspiration to the qualities of love and sharing that his martial arts experience taught him. Being a self taught trombone player, Alpert spent many years perfecting his sound. He took a break from his playing in the early 80’s to be a devoted father and husband. After the painful passing of his wife in 2002, he went back to his roots and picked up the trombone once again and used the music as a vessel to convey his emotions.

You can listen to the album on iTunes, CD Baby and Amazon.
